Motor Therapy services support academic achievement and social participation within all school routines including the classroom, cafeteria, and recess time. The Santa Fe Trail BOCES Motor Therapy Team is divided into Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. Both provide evaluation goal-oriented plan development, implementation of various interventions, and on-going assessment and monitoring of progress for students from birth to 21. The Physical Therapist will address gross motor skills, the need for postural adaptations, and mobility concerns. The Occupational Therapist will address fine motor, visual motor, sensory motor, and activities of daily living (ADL’s). Both consider developmental milestones, medical diagnosis, student and staff safety and the need for adaptive equipment.
